Sargy Chima's First Choice is Mike de Jong

BURNABY – Former candidate Sargy Chima is the latest BC Liberals to declare that Mike de Jong is her first choice in this week’s vote for the next leader of the party.

“Mike de Jong is my first choice because he is seasoned, experienced, and knowledgeable – the kind of leader we need right now,” Chima said. “From the first day on the job, Mike de Jong is ready to take the fight John Horgan and the NDP in the Legislature.”

Chima was the BC Liberal candidate in Surrey-Whalley in the 2017 election. Born and raised in Vancouver, she is a long-time public servant, entrepreneur, Director of Pacific Canada Heritage Center Museum of Migration, and a member of the Public Service Alliance of Canada Collective Bargaining Team.

“Mike de Jong’s vision to renew the BC Liberals as a grassroots party is the critical first step to rebuilding support with voters in Surrey and across the province,” Chima said. “Simply put, Mike de Jong has the experience we need to deliver the change we need in our party and our province.”

Michael de Jong now has many MLAs, former MLAs, MPs, and community leaders supporting him from around the province (see list below).

The BC Liberal party will hold a leadership convention to announce the new leader on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018.
