More Mandarin Language Education Helps Prepare Students, Grow Trade
I have announced that a government led by me would increase the opportunity for students to learn Mandarin in B.C. public schools. I made this announcement in Richmond joined by my Campaign Co-Chair, Richmond North Centre MLA Teresa Wat, hundreds of supporters and almost a dozen business and education leaders.
Over my 20 plus years representing BC around the world, I have seen the advantage that knowing more than one language offers. Ensuring students and families have access to second language education has to be a priority.
Students who have the chance to learn another language benefit because they are exposed to a new ideas, greater opportunities and more career choices.
Our province also benefits as more and more British Columbians have the language skills to help us continue to grow our trade and cultural links with China, our second largest trading partner after USA.
