U.S. softwood duties driven by greed, protectionism
While Mike was visiting Williams Lake, the U.S. government imposed its final softwood lumber duties on B.C.’s forest industry.
It’s a clear sign that instead of competing with Canada, our American neighbours are being driven by corporate greed in the U.S.-based forestry industry. It was like that the last time they imposed duties like this 15 years ago.
We’ve changed though – thanks to efforts by our government and our industry we are far less reliant on the U.S. market.
What hasn’t changed is that fact that we will prevail in the long run – just like we did last time.
